What I want to do:

Where records in "field a" are the same - i want to make records in "field b" the same.

Also - I want the records in "field b" to be the same as the first record were "field a" starts to be the same. Maybe I'll just show you what I want:

An example,

How it is now:

field a field b

blue 1049
blue 1050
red 1051
red 1052
red 1053
red 1053
pink 1054

What I want:

field a field b

blue 1048
blue 1048
blue 1048
red 1051
red 1051
red 1051
red 1051

Can anybody help me?

Thanks in advance:)

Create two queries:

1. Add Column A and Column B from your original table to the query. Select the Group by button (that funny looking "E" button on the toolbar. Change the query type to a make table query and change the Group by under Field B to be Min. Run the query to make the table.

2. Open a new Query add the Original table anf the new one joined by column a. Change the query to an update query and add Column B from the original query and in the Update to field type [NewTableName].[NewFiledName]. Run the query.
