How can users w/o Access read my CD?

I want to make an Access database of my collection of antique swords that I can put on a CD. This DB would also include as many as 5 digital images for each record.

Some of my friends may not have Access 2007 on their PC. Is there a viewer that I can put on the CD with my database so they can view it without them having to buy the Access program??

You need the Access Runtime.
I think you need to buy a developer version of Access to get it.
But then you are allowed to distribute the Runtime with your database.

Thank you for the reply. This is more than I want to pay ($800). All I want is a program that will allow me a minimum database that will include being able to link to pictures / images.

I probably do not need all the features of Access. Is there another comparable program that will still allow me a "runtime' type OS so I can deliver a CD to 4 - 5 people?

More people have Excel than Access. Is there a way to link pictures (instead of embedding them) in Excel Office 2007?

delivering run time access is to for the fainthearted either

you need an absolutely debugged application, and a fair bit of knowledge.

Bear in mind also that Access 2007 is still a beta product.

you can use Access tables as a database for VB etc, which may be easier to supply as an executable.

This is getting complicated for me. Is there any way I can link Excel to pictures?

Why link rather than embed?
You could use Word to create an HTML document that links to the pictures.
Realy depends on what you are trying to achieve.
In fact Access will export to HTML though I have not played with it.

I believe you can put hyperlinks in Excel.
Just make sure they're relative not absolute, eg like "pics\pic1.jpg" not "D:\pics\pic1.jpg"
