How do I display a large memo field based on a combo box selection?

Hi.

I am new to Access, and I realize help-begging at your feet might be unwanted. If so, could I get directions to a forum where newbing around isn't frowned upon? Thanks.

If you're still reading; this is my problem:

I have two tables, one for municipalities (tblMunics) and one for counties (tblCounties). The tblMunics is the main table, because it contains almost all of the preparedness-information to which my db is dedicated. However, there is also an important memo field in the tblCounties, and I need this inside the same form.

I have tried a multi-column combo box-solution, without luck, as the memo field is cropped to 255 chars when subjected to such treatment, and this is unacceptable.

The two tables are connected through CountyID.

To be very specific about what i wish for: To select CountyName with a combo box (preferably), display CountyMemo in a text box, and save the corresponding CountyID in tblMunics.CountyID.

I welcome pointing out alternative roads to the same end. I am not (that) emotionally attached to the combo box.

I have searched a lot for an answer to this, and it is possible that ive found it, but without being able to recognize it. So I've finally come to this. I hope you can help me, it will mean a lot to me, as I am but a milestone away from waking my slumbering giant company to the gospel of databases :)

Hi Demring,

After quick read through it sounds as if the easiest way would be to create a subform (built around your memo field). Put this on your main form and link it with Parent - Child properties.

You might get a better responce by attaching you DB, so we can see what you have so far,

Garry

Ah, the one clue I didn't throw myself at, of course! :)

Your advice makes sense, although i do not understand subforms yet. I will try this at once. Thanks!
