Hello all:

My OS is windowXP and Office is 2003, so the Access is also 2003.

I followed the the interface of access2003 and made my table.mdb, then tried to import data from an Excel file. I could not find the sign of external import tab. Could you help me? Thanks!

Welcome to AWF :)

How much data have you got?

You can copy and paste from Excel into the table.

I know Access 2007 data base can export and import data. As for Access 2003, I did find it is able to export data to excel or word. Does it not have the function to inport data from excel and other source file?

I can't remember the way the Imports are done in Access 2003 and my copy of 2003 is not with me at the moment.

Have you looked through all the menus?

I looked through the menus, in:
Tools/Office Links
we can export data to word and excel, and that's all.

To import dada to data base is a common job for a data base, the access 2003 should be able to do that. I am afraid that I have made something ignorant.

In Access 2003, go to the File menu and select the "Get External Data"/"Import ..." option.

The Import file dialog will be presented where you can locate the desired file. If you are going to import an Excel file then you will need to change the "File of Types:" selection to "Microsoft Excel (*.xls) and then locate the file you want to import.

The import wizard with wak you through the process.

Did you follow what Mr. B advised? He's running Access 2003.

The question is in the "Access 2003", I did not find the " Get External Data" or any item alike.

I attached the ScreenShot of Access2003, you can see no "..External Data" on the manu at all. I hope it's my ignorance.

Yumin, Mr. B said you should click on the FILE menu, not Tools.

You have not pulled down the File menu. You are on the Tools menu.

Hi Mr. B: Having been afraid that I am making some ignorance, finally it true I ignored the function I looked for is in the FILE manu.

Hey, it happens to all of us from time to time. Not to worry.

Good luck with your project.

Hi, Mr. B and all:

I got a new question about the "import"

From Internet I downloaded a list file, the format/extension is .mht, can I transfer this list into access2003 a file .mdb? If it can not be done directly, is there any indirect method?

As far as I can tell this file extension is associated with an Archive web page.

http://filext.com/file-extension/MHT

You may have to find a differenct source for your information or contact the source of the information to see if they have a better place from which you can downloade your data.

Hello Mr.B and all:

Right now I can import data into ACCESS2003 .mdb from Excel file.

If the outside file is .txt, could it be impoted to ACCESS2003 .mdb?

The answer is "Yes" as long as it is delimited.
