How to automate a renewal date?

I'm creating a database for a local community centre and they've asked if there's a way I can include information on whether someone has paid their membership fees for the year.

Membership fees fall due on the 1st January each year, so no matter when after that date the member pays the next renewal date will always be the 1st January the following year.

Is there a way I can include on my form the renewal date based upon the last paid date? I.e. so if the last paid membership date was 14th August 2012, the renewal date would become 1st January 2013.

Could you just do a renewal field and set it to display 01/01/2013?

There is no calculation to be made as you want the 01/01/ every time.

Maybe someone with more knowledge can advise better.

Then in January, change the validation to say the date + 1 year?
