What an idea. I would assume it's not free because it is very time consuming. Good luck with it... :)

Let's just say that it took someone a month to create that (and that might be pushing it). If the person doing it is being paid US $25 per hour, at 160 hours a month it would cost $4,000 for this to be created.

So, what is more cost effective? To pay $79 to purchase it or put out $4,000 to create a "free" version?

I think they get the picture Bob...

But then again, some questions are inevitable, even though sometime ridiculous... :)

Adam -

I'm not sure that everyone really does get it. I know that there are those who will struggle through to build something of their own (because their boss said to do it) and it winds up costing them thousands of dollars for something that they could have purchased for much less. I really don't think a lot of people actually think about what it is costing them for their Access programs.

So, occasionally I like to share that reality in terms of actual dollars.

You know, as much as I like searching the internet for answers, I have not found any sophisticated stuff that is useful to me.

Yes, there is plenty of sophistication on the web, and there is almost anything you will ever need to build a great application, but it's impossible to build it (and probably a waste of time) if you need to do other things like run a business.

I would not hesitate to hire a professional developer if I needed something done. I know my fair share of this program, but there's no way I would have the time nor the energy to produce a fully capable program to handle all of my business needs...

There are other perks to it too: like the respect of the other professional you are working with, a business contact, and not to mention a good feeling of getting something done. :)
