How to default to SQL view?

Is there anyway of defaulting to SQL view when firing up a query to amend it? (Rather than going into Design view)
There doesnt appear to be a configurable option to do that under Tools.

Surely, I'm not the first to have winced at losing SQL join statements after making a design change to the DB?
