Hi,

I was wondering how people keep all their Report designs the same?

I mean, how to make it easy for every Report to have the same text font, text size, logo header, same footer message etc etc???

Make a template. Then when you need to make a report, copy that report template, paste it with the new report name, configure it to feed off the proper data source and then change the elements on it to show the proper fields.

I use subforms for the headers and footers. And just use the same font for everything.

Edit: subreports, not subforms

lagbolt,

ah yes, thanks for suggesting to use subformas for the header (and footer??).
this will keep the database slim.

do you just put page numbers and current date in the footer?
cheers.

hi plog,

thanks very much for your advice. much appreciated.

then change the elements on it to show the proper fields.

how do you put the elements into the report?

if ti is a one-off report, then the wizard automatically puts them in the correct place.

but if it is done manually, do you just drag and drop them onto the form?

is it possible to easily get the "label" into the page header section, and the text box into the detail section?

A simple cut and paste will do that.

Also Form and Report properties can be overridden in code. You can store Fonts and Colours in a Table and apply these when opening. Requires advanced coding. For now it may be something you can put in the back of your mind.

duh - what didnt i try that??? i was trying drag and drop only which was a pain in the neck.
cheers.

Happy to see a good outcome.

Best wishes for the balance of the project.

Any problems you know where to ask.
