Hi,

I have a split database which i set up for other users - so i disabled "display navigation pane" and "allow full menus" and have a modal switchboard.

The database contains sensitive info so i added a password.

Because of this, "shift/open" no longer works to access the hidden objects and menus.

Microsoft help advises to open exclusive and then go to file/info - however because i have disabled full menus, i dont get this option!

Is there a way I can access the full menus and/or remove the password?

Thanks in advance

Have you tried pressing F11 or shift F11 ?

if you are protecting data then the password is presumably on the back end? so you need to open that one, not the front end to remove the password.

If you disabled the shift bypass key it is normal practice to provide a means of enabling it - typically a button only visible when the developer logs in.

If you haven't done that then the only way is to enable the shift bypass using vba from another db.

Perfect, problem solved!!

Thanks for the quick and helpful response

to not disable those kind of defeats the reason for disabling the shift bypass key in the first place:)

Hi CJ

Thanks for your reply.

Fortunately i'm the only one in the office that really knows how to use Access (albeit have never used the F11 shortcut before..:banghead:). So my reason for hiding menus is more just for aesthetics and usability.

Noted for future though, every day is a school day!

Thanks
