How would the table structure for this work?

I noted with a combination of surprise and pleasure a new text-speak abbreviation. Adams would be happy that Dilbert has become so totally influential in any technical enviornment.

PHB = pointy-haired boss.

My current problem is that my immediate government supervisor qualifies as a PHB and... so does the division director.
:(

My current theory is that the pointedness of the hair is proportional to the proximity of the person's rank to the top job ;)

Craig, the sad part is that despite it being said tongue-in-cheek, I have to agree with you.

I was aware of the Peter Principle, but it led me to another one that is more applicable - the Dilbert Principle.

The Dilbert Principle, on the other hand, claims that incompetent employees are intentionally promoted to prevent them from doing harm

(Taken from the Wikipedia article on that named principle.)

I can name at least three guys for whom that exact principle has been applied out at the office. Unfortunately, for one of them that principle did not work as well as it might have. He is still in a position where he can sometimes do a little damage to morale.
