i am trying to set up a resource database to hold information for my team, links to files are working ok as a hyperlink apart from a link to a powerpoint presentation.

yes it does link by it trys to run the slide show, which i do not wont, my team only need to open the slide show and then they can view the file and if they want it they then can save it.

how do i stop it trying to run the slideshow?

any help would be good

Is the link to a .pps file or .ppt? A .pps file is a slideshow and so wil run immediately it is opened.

Sounds to me like the PPT file has been saved as a presentation rather than a slide show. If this is the case right mouse click the file , select 'open with' and select powerpoint , then you can the file as a slideshow.

its does the same thing with both types, but mainly they are .PPT files.

i am using Access 2003 by the way if that makes any difference.

2 possible solutions to your problem
1. when the ppt opens right click and select 'edit slides' this will return you to the familar edit view.
2. In the general questions forums search for 'open powerpoint from access' there are threads already there.
