Just wondered if it is possible to have a form button edit the url of a hyperlink?

I say this because I the right mouse button disabled but would still like a user to edit / update the location of a hyperlink.

Regards

Ade

How do you want the button to change the hyperlink?
Do you mean change the value of a field in a table or redirect a browser to a different URL?

Hyperlink

I wish to give the ability to change the URL address within the record.

I currently allow a designer to add a url to a file on his terminal

e.g \Alans Comp\C:\Drawings\1553.skd

Should he change the location of this skd file then I would like him to have the ability to change the above location address.

If the right click was enabled then the user would simply be able to change the URL with the right click edit facility.

Hope this is a little clearer

Regards

There are a couple of ways to do this.

1. The easy way - just select the field and type in a new location.
2. Using API or common control dialog, browse your computer / network for a file and use that to populate the field.

I commonly use the second method - I'll try to strip down one of my Db and post an example unless you can find an example by searching in this forum.

The second API method sounds great

If you could strip down a DB then it would be great.

Cheers Fizzio.

Many thanks fizzio

Again and again you provide me with superfluous information.

Much obliged.

Adrian.

No problem Ade, glad to help - I remember when I was asking more than answering :)

Yes I'm at that awkward stage.....oh well

I have helped a few people out with postings but having only been doing access in my spare time for 9 weeks now the leanring curve is fairly steep.

It all started when my boss asked me to create an ordering and inventory system for him. I have done this of my own back and it appears to be functioning very well.

It also appears now though that having got the thing running and saving them time and effort with the reduction in paper it appears that his little knowledge has become a dangerous thing as I'm being asked daily to add different functionality.

I'm only a mere electrical / electronic engineer who has a passion for computing (always have) and not a fully blown access guru (although one day eh....hmmm).

Your help has been very appreciated as understanding syntax is half the battle to getting the hood up and having a play. It seems that tinkering with VB is the only way to get all of the goodies from access.

How long have you been accessing ..so to speak?

Regards

Adrian

About 2 years ish. I also stuck my head above the parapet and got dragged into designing a new departmental system after the previous system went belly-up with the Milennium Bug. I knew absolutely nothing back then and learned most of what I know now from this forum.

I am by no means an expert, more like a willing dabbler - look at this thread for the proof of me still making mistakes.

Always glad to help.
