I'm not technically a new member but I've been away for a while. About four years ago I created a database for recording the activities and hours worked for my team. About two years ago I updated it. It became a big hit and it's used in all sorts of ways to analyse what training we do, what projects we work on and what we are doing when we're not on a project.
Now I am being asked to create a database to kill off several spreadsheets and bring information on resourcing together in one place using one interface. Basically based on requests for resource for next year I need to be able to create a gant chart showing each employee and the days that they are resourced. The chart then needs to alert the person doing the resourcing if the days resourced would prevent an employee for instance using up their remaining holiday entitlement or to warn if you are potentially double booking someone.
I have a feeling that I'll spend a lot of my time on here asking questions.
