Hi all, I have tried this programming thing and failed. I am now a desperate nobody! Is there anyone out there who can help. I understand scheckles may need to be used in turn for the favour but I need it. The app I want to write has multiple tables which need to be populated by entering data into forms. When records are exported the data is manipulated and a complete report specific to the reord is produced. Gulp...anyone?

Why don't you start by telling us your design structure. What will be in your tables and how do they relate to each other? What type of information will your database hold?

The data is in small tables. There are two ends of the report. Front and back. The front is made up of generic info which is slightly altered for each site but most things are generic. These items are to be in a table and are all text. The back end is made up of client, sites and sample tables. During a survey data is collected and via a series of forms the data is input by a data inputter back in the office.

The tree is Client. Site. Sample. The db may have multiple clients. Each client may have multiple sites. Each site may have multiple samples. Each site will have a picture and one or more drawings and each sample will have one picture. (All taken on site by surveyor).

When all data is entered the report can be exported. During export manipulation of scores against field entries are carried out. (Risk assesments). All data is placed within the report in a predetermined place.

I do have a full working copy of what I have been using but the Law has changed and I need the new version. I have looked and I think it is quicker to rewrite the complete thing. If anyone has any other questions please do get hold of me as this is a serious request.

There does seem anything insurmountable here:

Sample - Data
Sample -> Site
Site -> Clients

What statutory or legal requirements impact on the existing structure.

The industry used to work to MDHS100 which took account of variables over a few more fileds and now the fields have been reduced so it is less complicated to those working long hand. The front end of the report has also reduced.

It should be easy but I am not so good with things like this. I can lift heavey things but this logical game is not for me lol.

Not quite true, I can do flow charts etc and list all fileds needed in each table but then when it comes to creating relations and keys I get confused! I would never be able to create the reports.........

The new legislation is HSG264 and can be found on the net.

You say you have a full working copy of what you need can you post it to be reveiwed?

Tried to upload but message back "body is too large" so I am looking to post a sample report. It will be self explanatory from there as the data is simply displayed in the report. Nope, not having it. If there is anyone in or around Doncaster then I can burn a copy and get it to you. Is there any other way please? If this is too much for the forum would you pm me please?

Did a search on HSG264 and came up with this Link.

Will this do what you want?
