I really struggle with sub reports

I have one report which shows a 2007 results subreport on the top and followed by a 2006 results subreport. I want to compare trends with formulas but cannot get it to work.

Example: I inserted a text box and typed (total from 2007 subreport/total from 2006 sub report)-1 to get a percent change. All I ever get is ?name or #error???

Is this a complicated request?

I used the builder and clicked on reports and then clicked each field in each sub report for each formula.

Are your sub reports in datasheet mode or another view. If not in datasheet view you can put a field in each of your subform footers and then refer to them thus:

=Nz([YourSubformContainerName].[Form].[Your2006TextBoxNameHere],0) + Nz([YourSubformContainerName].[Form].[Your2006TextBoxNameHere],0)

Bob will probably come along and fix that form reference. :p

2 reports are inserted into a new report to be viewed as one on top of the other. I am trying to place a formula in the report footer comparing each related field from each inserted subreport. Both reports have numbers but it does not work?

I'm sorry, but I'm more visual and seeing is better for me. Can you compact and repair and then use WinZip, or something like it, and zip it and upload?

This is all I can provide

I am in a secure industry - so here are the designed reports.

thanks again!!

Which version is the database? I can view it from home as I have 2000, 2003, and 2007 but at work (where I am now) I only have 2000.

So, if anyone gets there before me, that's okay.

Use the HasData method to refer to subReports, many examples have been posted here

How would I compare different results that were grouped in sub-reports. In the main report I can only compare the text box field but how do I distinguish between each grouped value displayed as one text box in the page footer?

thanks

Um, it isn't really going to help to have just the reports and no tables. You can delete the data but the tables themselves being there are kind of important to the process of figuring out why it isn't working or if it needs to go in a different direction.
