But why doesnt this work? Its in the control source field of a report:

=DCount("[YearOfEntry]","Stu-StudentData"," [YearOfEntry] = '2003' ")

and comes out with an error on the report.

While i'm here, how do i get it to come out once, rather than for every student??

Pu it in the report footer instead and it should work. I just tried it, works fine

thats a strange one. I put it in the footer and it still didnt work. So i put it back, and it did!!!
