Hi,

I am not sure if this is possible...

A few months back I had my first dealings with a datbase handling images. Now things are getting even more complicated.

In short I will need a way of linking many images with one database record.

I am thinking that there will be a form with a subform that holds the image viewer.

I will need to be able to view all the images at once i.e. thumbnail format but also if I choose to double click on one it will open up in my image viewer panel and allow zoom in/out.

Has anyone any experience of this kind of thing?

Nope, but you'll definitely need a new table for images to simulate this one-to-many relationship.

Why such a (seemingly) pointless endeavour?

I created a budget database for a one-to-one image-record relationship which works fine!

Someone else has a few individuals that they get many invoices for, they want to nab my database and adjust it for thier needs!

There will be details for the individual which I thought I could put on the first tab of a tabbed form and then if I could work out some way of handling thumbnails I could put this on a second tab.

My apologies if i am missing something simple, I have a headache and am not thinking very logically at the moment... :(

Is it possible to have this work so that you would only need to put the details in once but then have many invoices on a one-to one basis then linked to the actual indivudal?

I think there is but can't quite put my finger on it...

Access IMaging

Andy

I have had similar dealings with images in access although there was only one image per record.

It's not a very good system to use really but it does work for the best part. Access can view TIF files quite easily on a form and can be made to scroll through the database too. You can view jpg and bmp's to.

What is the purpose of the excerise as I feel you are probably trying to re-invent the wheel.

I have just made a capital investment and purchased IMR Alchemy Gold together with Kodak Document scanner which does the job perfectly well as it has been desinged to do so.

Have a look at my website, tells you all about the system
