...because I don't know where to, I'm posting in this area.

Is it possible to send a warning message (via VBA) from a workstation, running an Access 2003 app, to another workstation that is in the same network?

Important information:

Operating System --> Windows XP
Network OS --> Novell

Sorry if that's not here the right place to put this kind of questions.
Thanks.

From memories of a long time ago, if the Messenger service has been started on network workstations, NET SEND command will broadcast a message to all domain users and it is possible to target specific computers.

You should be able to get VBA to generate such a command.

Hi Cronk

Thanks for your idea. I gave it a try and it worked... at home. At my office didn't work because, NET SEND needs Messenger Service (from Windows) and Administrators had disable it... enterprise instructions.

On the other way, I have some machines with Windows 7 and this OS doesn't have Messenger Services, so... I'll have to find another approach.

Thanks anyway.
Merry Christmas

Why not simply dedidicate a special folder someplace on the network where you write a text file with the computer's name as the filename?
