Hi all! In my table, I am trying to create an input mask for the telephone number. I am using !\(999") "000\-0000;0;_ The ! is supposed to make it display right to left instead of left to right correct? With the 999 being nonrequired, if I enter the phone number 555-1212 ... it still displays left to right and then errors telling me the value I entered isn't appropriate. Why is the ! not working? Do others have trouble with this? Help! Thanks!

Here is what Access says about your input mask and the exclamation mark:

"Causes the input mask to display from right to left, rather than from left to right. Characters typed into the mask always fill it from left to right"

The italics are mine and I did not receive any errors typing in a number without the area code.

Are you using the same symbols in your input mask?
