Hi,

i have to do a replication job on a customers database.

The database is an access 2000 system, and they are wanting sales reps with laptops to dial in and synchronise so they have the latest data, and also so that the head office gets any changes the sales reps have made.

The white paper on microsofts web site here only talks about using internet replication with NT4, not with windows 2000.

does anyone know if there are any differences/changes to the way it is setup for it to work, or has anyone stumbled accross anything that isnt documented, or even if there is a white paper doumenting how to do it with windows 2000.

thanks for any help

toodles

Not sure whether this will help you a lot, but...
I went through quite a good amount of 'literature' regarding replication and never came across references regarding particularities for sync. over internet for W2k (I mean in comparison with w98/95).
Since W2k is pretty new it could mean that I just missed them.
But I am inclined to think that there is none.

If for your documentation you would like me to point sources of info I found about replication, just re-post.

Thanks,

i had a good root around microsofts web site as well, and couldnt find anything to do with replication and windows 2000, not even for Office XP (which seems a bit odd, is'nt there and developers edition for Office XP?)

The setup of the web server is pretty much the same, have only done a quick test accross our network at the mo, the fun bit will be setting up RAS and then testing it over a 56k dial up connection!!!

One thing i did notice though, my database would nto replicate when i configured the replication manager with the IP Address off the machine rather than the name. i wouldnt have thought it would make any difference, but it hated it. would not even see the machine when it was replicating over a local network. anyone got any ideas as to why.

Hey everyone,

Sorry to bring this topic from the past but i really need to know if anyone had any luck with this?

We are moving from NT4 to win2000 and i need to set up internet replication on the Windown 2000 server machine.

I been going crazy on this for tha past 2 days now and it doesn't seem to work... I was following the document that was published by MS on how to set up the replication manager and IIS4 on NT4 but after all that it still not working.
I been going through MS website and i think i checked everything that could point me to right direction but nothing seems to make a difference.
Does any one know if there is any kind of differences between the setup on NT4 and WIn 2000? what needs to be changed?

after setting up the replicas i get 3547 error or the 3661 error during the replication...
I setup a simple database just to test if its all working but same thing is happening ... sometimes it comes back telling me "invalid HTTP address" ...
Im not really sure whats next i think i been trhough everything.
Please need some help.

thanks

No to worry guys,
