I have an Inventory Tracking Database that has a Head Copy that updates and maintains the Master Item list, and places this list on an FTP server for other Depot copies to download.

The depot copies do all of the transactions (receiving, issuing) of items.

I have now been told that the way the stock value is represented gives false readings as it only reports on the current price for an item, even though an item may have been purchased at a different price previously.

I was wondering has anyone had similiar experience with tracking the cost of an item, and reporting Stock values based on an average for the item? What is the best way to go about it?

I was thinking along the lines of picking up the price at the time of purchase, and recording that against the item, but that poses problems when issuing items...

Any ideas would be appreciated

Thanks
