Invicible numbered section.

Hi,

I would like to have an invicible numbering, so that it turns up in the index but doesn´t show on the page.

The reason is I have inserted pictures (graphs etc), and I would like to refer to them in the index.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Format the numbers to the same colour as the background, usually white.
