Invisible Label

I have a form which has vertical labels on it, which have now become invisible. In properties the label is clearly shown but on the design and form view it is invisible. I have tried everything!! changing colour, alignment etc but to no avail. The label text does appear however if I change the label to horizontal. Even if I delete the label and start again the same thing happens, I have been down every box in properties and played about with them and nothing is happening. Have I gone mad!!! VB is a walk in the park compared to this!!!

Is it possible that hey are being hidden? If you to the Format Menu, then choose Bring to Front, see if that does anything. I don't understand why there is a difference if you change them to horizontal, if they did once appear ok as vertical.

Tried that, but didn't work. We have just recently updated our system but that shouldn't cause any problems especially if I tried to do the label from scratch. Desparately need the labels to be vertical as they won't fit the other way..

Hmmm. Have you tried to repair the db? Might be worth a shot. If that hasn't resolved it, you could try posting it on here so that we can have a look. Most of us use Access 97, so if it's 2k or higher, can you convert it down?

Tried repairing and also converting to earlier and later version, no avail. Cannot send database due to nature of what is in it (I work at a school). Looks like I am at a loss!!!!

Does your version of Access support vertical labels, have you tried increasing the width/height of the label?

Yes and tried all of the above. It must be something really trivial but I have tried every possible combination there is. Everthing you can do with a label I have done!!

Create a blank db, just import the relevant form and throw in some dummy data, post a copy here

When you say vertical, do you mean turned 90 degrees? If so how do you change it? Is there a property for it? Did you use code? Sorry, but I've not had to do this before.

Can you believe it. I got our IT Technician to uninstall access and reinstall it. And you never guess what?? Yes it works. Can you believe that I have spent the best part of two days trying to work this out!!!!!
Yes it should be turned 90 degrees. If you right click on the label and click on properties, there is a option for vertical, click on either yes or no. When I was clicking yes the label text just disappeared.

I'm glad it's sorted. I think that the option of vertical must only be on Access 97 and higher as I cannot find it.
Let's hope it doesn't do it again.
