Is Access appropriate for my current needs?

Hi guys!

Let me preface by saying I'm currently an intern majoring in Economics who's had almost no programming experience.

So the sector of the company where I work at has about 8 employees total. They have been paying top dollar for a database which only generates reports to be read on Excel and said database allows for several duplicates since it runs reports based on strings, not indexing.

I then suggested I could do better and within 2 weeks I learned the principles of databases and Access' main features. I've cleaned the duplicates and created an Access database.

My superiors are impressed since the company had been living at the Stone Age with a very expensive database that didn't suit their needs.

I'm now wondering if Access is enough for their needs. The main use is to record meetings with investors. There are about 800 records of their names and about 1900 of the meetings which have taken place in the last 2 years. I wouldn't be working with a lot of forms, but again I have no programming experience.

What about database corruption? If they ditch their current database I would be responsible for anything that happens.

Strongly suggest based on some unfortunate experiences that you split the DB, Back up the Back End every day and keep a copy of the front end. Both in places that you can find them. Access is great, but a backup is something you do not want to omit.
