I have Google and found out every thing about batteries (PC) (win 8.1) except how to see if its charging. Anybody know the secret? with win7 the battery icon in the task bar would tell me.

I have windows 8, when I want to see the battery I switch to desktop view.

No, I do have an Icon but all it shows is how much battery life is available.
The problem stems from the requirement at the rehab hospital my wife is at. They will not let me put in a regular cord attached surge protector. I had to buy one that plugs directly into an outlet, which makes it warble. My wife has a hard time from her wheel chair trying to plug it in properly since the outlet is so low. If she could see easily if it is not charging so could call a CNA or even wait until one came in and ask them to re-insert it for her.
