i have created a small db that shows the status of a user (if they are in the office or not for the receptionist) but the way i have created the form is very very long winded using 60 queries at least and lots of messing about.

see here for the db - http://www.arcintl.force9.co.uk/db/Staff Location.zip

all i want is the form to show me all the staff members all in rows/columns in alphabetical order showing a certain picture depending if they are in or out (all data will be in 1 table - updated from other code).

any suggestions apart from the awful way i quickly drafted it.

Michael

Has each staff member got their own column in the table?

yes, there is a table that has a list of users and each of their status's (i.e. in or out)

You are lucky you got me on a quiet day.:D

Have a look at the attachment. This will answer all your questions and show you how much simpler it is when it is done correctly. Known as LAE. Least Administrative Effort.

thank you dcrake but the download says its corrupt? or empty?

it is working try re-downloading again the file

I tried to download it and got a corrupt file message. Does the file need renaming so it can be opened by a different program??

i tried opening with xp and get a corrupt message? what os was used to compress? maybe an xp/vista compatability issue?

Sorry, It was originally a rar file but forum does not support rar's so I simply renamed it. I take it that this did not work correctly. Try this attachment.

I am using XP Pro and Access2003. The error occurred when it was trying to access the Zip file. It didn't get as far as using Access.

that did the trick.

Thank you very much DCrake that code is soo much simpler and looks a million times better.

Thank you again
