Is this hypocrisy?

Re: Is this hipocrsity

Of course it is hypocrisy.

Contact them and ask why:
information@sierraclub.org

There is no doubt IMO that it is hypocrisy, and I know the reason why, I was just interested to see if there are green people on this forum willing to give them a pass.

Re: Is this hipocrsity

Although it is hypocritical it doesn't mean that the message about making cars more efficient should be ignored.

Jesus pointed out the hypocracy of those worshipping at the synagogues but didn't decide to open His own church. That was left to other hypocrites who claim to follow the word of Jesus while they worship in grandiose churches in prominent places despite His direction to worship in private. - Matthew 6: 5-6

Re: Is this hipocrsity

No argumrnt on that. I'l drive a full size pickup that runs on tap water and gets 100 miles on a gallon, sells about $1000;00 to buy, but I am not going yo feel guilty when some guy is trying to put me into a shoe box while he drives a Jag.

Talk about hypocrisy, you just got through saying Jesus and all he did was a myth. you hate the bible yet you quote a verse about hypocrisy?

Have a nice day :>)

you got one of those hydrogen generators on your truck too?

Although I contend that Jesus is a myth, Christians believe in that the NT is an infallible record of His life. As such it doesn't matter whether I believe Jesus existed or not.

The fact is, despite what their icon is supposed to have said, a great many Christians, particularly preachers and the other glamourously attired church oligarchs, all ignore His advice about conspicuous worship being hypocritical.

Re: Is this hipocrsity

Fear is a big business people wake up!

Certainly true. Those who depend on fossil fuels for their wealth are constantly instilling fear that a world powered by clean energy is one of abject deprivation and crippling costs.

Meanwhile, millions of people around the planet are getting on with the change to renewable energy. The penetration of this change is really starting to freak out the fossil fuel advocates.

Re: Is this hipocrsity

We certainly need renewable energy. But what is the fossil fuel alternative?

The global warming alarmist hate coal and nuclear.
By "alarmist" you imply the warnings are unwarranted. The science unambiguously shows we are heading for a global scale disaster.

I guess the answer would be a combination of corn, natural gas and solar.

Natural gas is still a fossil fuel. Moreover the new wave of unconventional mining is utterly reckless on many fronts.

Fuel made from food crops is probably the stupidest idea ever. Moreover it isn't effective because in the full cycle it produces a least as much carbon dioxide as it avoids. Indeed it is only viable through subsidies delivered because of the strength of the farm lobby in the US.

I live in California one the greenest states. We have year round solar, corn and thousands of wind turbines. Even with that said it's a very small fraction of the energy we need. Most of our energy comes from nuclear, hydro and natural gas.

There is still a lot of open ground that could be collecting solar energy. More than enough to meet one hundred percent of Califoria's needs.

not to change the subject but, really water.... mine does as well although not that good of mileage.

Yes, they are hypocrits, most all activist. Do as I say not do as I do!

you and your global warming. At the expense of everybody. Hey, lets shut down the coal mines, put people out of work, raise electric rates about 60% instantly. Why, because your Green energy is not ready to appear. and like Al Gore your probably making millions off of it or at the very least know someone who is.

Your science is faulty and it proven to be so more every day. Talk about fear mongers.

What has fossil fuels got to do with it. care to elaborate about the mining and where?

I have to agree that by processing corn to go into gasoline is the dumbest thing around. Want to tear up your car and other garden engines, just get some of that Green Gas. Now, I use corn for heat but I also raise it for profit and feed. Don't guess it matters too much if I use a bushel or two to heat these old bones during the winter.

There is still a lot of open ground that could be collecting solar energy. More than enough to meet one hundred percent of Califoria's needs.

By all means lets put down a 1000 square miles of solar panels where not bird flies, no insects, etc. Talk about killing nature...... all in the name of Green

Would it be nice if both sides told the truth, and always shared true scientific finding with the others side even if it didn't completely back up their theory.
instead of hiding emails, blackballing and bullying the other side. Maybe we could get some thing done.

Or, instead of strawman arguments and hyperbole, we could put up solar and wind farms that block out less space than coal-fed power plants and perhaps even start using some new technologies to make roads out of solar panels.
Oh, and I don't recall any solar panel spills devastating the Alaskan or Gulf coasts lately.

Even if you disregard the proven fact that climate change is human-driven, simple common sense will tell you we WILL run out of fossil fuels, and even a cursory search will show fossil fuel are becoming harder to find and harder and harder to extract. The faster we can wean ourselves off them in areas where they can be replaced, the longer they remain available for uses where there are no alternatives.

lets see, solar panels kills all birds that come across them 24-7 vs an spill in the Gulf and Alaskan coasts. We need to go to the Hypocrisy thread.

I believe you better get yourself some new literature. The earth has only gained 0.5 rise in temperature since the 1970s. That 40 years ago... You would have thought New York Cit would be under water by now. We have enough fossil and coal for about 2-300 more years. The scrubbers on the coal plants produce C02. Don't think this is a pollutant or do you. Guess I need to quit Far....... o well........will smell better anyway even if I do blow up?

Re: Is this hipocrsity

you and your global warming. At the expense of everybody.

It isn't my Global Warming. It is everyone's. Failing to take action is jeopardising the future of the planet's habitability for many generations. The costs of not taking action far exceed the costs of action.

Hey, lets shut down the coal mines, put people out of work,
The renewable energy industry is a huge employer.

raise electric rates about 60% instantly. Why, because your Green energy is not ready to appear.
Few expect instant change. However work needs to be done to develop the alternatives. Like any technology, demand is necessary to promote investment. Investment promotes development and brings down cost. The technologies themselves are ready.

Photovoltaic technology as changed very little in decades. When the demand increased the investment happened and prices fell more than all but the most optimistic ever imagined. Indeed costs fell so far that rooftop PV technology is now competitive with mains supply at the consumer level.

and like Al Gore your probably making millions off of it or at the very least know someone who is.
This argument is the most profoundly lame of all. The entrenched fossil fuel industries are making billions. Their influence is being used to repress alternative energy. Indeed they are frantic because the change is already affecting their profits.

Unfortunately the ignorant, motivated by greed and primed by their fear mongering are all too willing to stand in as the ventriloquist dummies for the fossil fuel industry to tell us we have no alternative.

You display a profound ignorance in this post as you spout the lines taught to you by the fossil fuel industry PR machine.

Scrubbers don't produce CO2. Combustion does that.

CO2 is a pollutant. We have raised the levels in the atmosphere by over forty percent since industrialisation. Most of it in the past couple of decades and the rate continues to increase.

CO2 won't go away in a couple of decades like other pollutants when we wake up and stop producing them like we did with ozone depleting chemicals in the 80s.

CO2 levels will persist for millennia and retrieving it from the atmosphere is extremely difficult. It will continue to heat the plant.

Moreover much of the added heat due to greenhouse gasses is currently being pulled deep by the oceans. This will change within a decade.

The Sun's output is also in a lull which will persist for about a decade. Despite this we have had 350 months in a row of above average temperatures.

Come 2025 only the most hardy fools will continue to deny the extent of the crisis upon us.
