Good Afternoon!

MY IT department recently relocated a database that I created from the Zdrive to the Wdrive. Since that move, our first problem was getting the database to open. I have the Auto FE Updater so I did some renaming in the configuration files which allowed for us to now open the databases but now we have been encountering messages such as "Datatype Mismatch in criteria expression" and "This expression is typed incorrectly or is too complex to be evaluated"..

I did see where the name of the database was changed so I changed it back. I still don't know why the name was changed or how..:(

On my errors for example: I can open a report that requests the congressional district for which we enter a number and it gives me a report for all numbers from 1-7 except for congressional district 2. This is when it says "Datatype Mismatch in criteria expression". For one other report, it asks for the parish. It works for some parish names but then for a certain parish name "Orleans" it doesn't. So, since they have relocated the database, some things work now and some don't. Do I need to start from scratch or something because all my reports worked before the relocation! or could someone be tampering with my little database?

Your first problem lies in the fact that your database is linked to network shortcuts.

Get the full server name - use that religiously. People can and will map their network to different (...C:, D:, X:, W:) drive letters.

Check your network access - do you have full read/write capability?

Were you linking elsewhere on the network based on your drive letters?

A distant second problem is checking for people tampering with your database. My assumption is that no one goes out of their way to be a jerk - but if your situation is different, I hope you've created backups.

Thanks way2bord..I will have to ask my IT department what network access I had. I do recall them giving me permissions again after the FE and BE was relocated.

I was only linking to the Zdrive prior to the relocation if I am understanding what you mean by linking correctly. I checked my references and that seems to be okay.

Thanks again!
