Just split DB - why is my Front End size so big?

Hi all,

Just split my 78Mb DB and noticed the back end size is only around 3.5Mb while over 75Mb is my Front End! Is this normal?

I admit I have a lot of forms and some which use background image but total background image size used can't be more than 10 Mb...

Anyway, is there a way to track what forms/reports/queries are using such a big file space?

P/S : Also another question concerning split databases. Does the "link" to and from the BE require a good bandwidth? Can I host the FE locally and leave the BE bit (which essentially are just tables...) on a remote server? Reason asking is the connection to this remote server isn't really good...

You really want the remote server to be decent. Otherwise you run the risk of serious corruption of the back end.

As to the FE being big after splitting, have you done a compact/repair yet?

Access is notoriously bad with images. I would not be surprised if 10Mb of images resulted in FE growth of several times that. Here's info on the bandwidth question:
