hayulpt = "helped"

It's from a '60s TV commercial. The dialect was Southern US.

Didn't Penelope Pitstop speak like that in the old Hanna Barbara cartoons?
I distinctly remember her shouting for 'hayulp' instead of 'help'.

You are absolutely correct. It's a southern thing. We in the south try to see just how many syllables we can break any given word into, mostly to drive people who speak correct English crazy.

I loved Wacky Races.

See the much sought after Penelope Pitstop here:

Back to topic.

Maybe it might have been nice if parents , (and in particular Mothers) wern't so selfish and went to work instead of staying home doing the job they're here for - to bring up the kids.

Women these days are totally focused on money and getting the 'right' stuff for the home - this is at the expense of bringing up the children properly, leaving it to strangers who care little about it.

Hmmm, here in the US, that is the view of many conservative Republicans. Many are ridiculed here for saying such things. And I agree with you.

Not always possible ....
and also here in the UK there is a drive to get single parents working by the Goverement.. maybe if the welfare system paid enough for single parents to stay at home..(but then you get lazy freeloaders abusing the system ))

There will be exceptions.

I was referring to selfish parents who both work at the expense of bringing up their children properly.

Too much emphasis is put on 'keeping up with the Jones's', they overstretch themselves financially and as a result the kids are rarely able to be brought up in a proper family environment - even simple right from wrong teachings are abandoned.

My sister-in-law is one of these women.
When she had her first child, she insisted she was going to "have it all"
Motherhood, career and maybe run for the local council as well.
She soon discovered the falicy of this "Womens Lib" fiction...there are only 24 hours in a day and you need to sleep for 8 of them.

People are too quick to blame others - like the government. They should assess their own status.

Divorce is too easy to get, nobody seems to hold the marriage vows anymore. Marriage is just a joke now, "if it doesn't work the we'll scrap it and get divorced". Never mind the fallout.

Mothers concentrate on 'careers' when their role on this planet is solely to raise children - that is a lesser item on their agenda. More important to get the BMW perhaps. The kids suffer no doubt without consistency and family morals and values.

If parents did what they are supposed to, then maybe there may be better family values.

I read somewhere that 40% of UK marriages now fail, what does that tell us?
(I don't have a ref)

Dang! It's closer to 50% here in the US, so they say (I also have no supporting evidence).

Don't, please, don't get me started on the distorted views of "women's lib" and "political correctness". We just need to get a grip and live our lives without being offended because others don't hold our point of view. Maybe it's just time the whole world got over themselves.

glamour girls are just above porn models (Paris Hilton comes to mind, but there are others)

Glamour girls and porn stars have their knockers, but I don't think Paris Hilton has a great deal.

Not a lesser agenda at all! If you're responsible enough to bring kids into the world you should be responsible enough to guide them through their early lives.

LOL, I like the idea that a Mother's sole role is to raise children, unfortunately there are a million other tasks to be done around the house too these days, someone has to load the washing machine, the dish washer, vacuum the carpets and throw the pizza in the oven for the tea! And, please, do you honestly think that Coronation Street +will watch itself????

Oh, that is so easy to answer. Most young women that I know only ever got married to look like a "princess" for a day. No, seriously, they did! It only worked for a couple of them, but even they ended up divorced inside two years. Instead of making it more difficult to get a divorce they should make it more difficult to get married.
