kill two bird with one stone

1st Bird

i had this working but now its not...my start date should = todays date(whatever today is) this no longer works and the way i thought i had done it doesnt work either now.

2nd Bird

i have been trying to find out how to make all my forms come up with no data in them when a new patient is selected!i am getting no where fast on that one so i thought you guys could help...seen as though you are all so great and that!!

any help on these would be great

Set the Data entry property of the form to yes.

From one Edinburgh girl to another. I take it you have tried Date() in the default property of the field you want to show today's date in. What's it doing now that it was working and now it isn't?

Have a look at this thread, it might be the same problem. If not, give a bit more info

How do you select a new record? If it's a command button then in the event procedure of OnClick it should be something like:

DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec

Again, if this isn't what's happening, give a bit more info and we can have another go.

2nd Bird almost killed
i have a select patient form that if you choose a patient number from the combo box the rest of the patients details are filled into the text boxes on the form.

setting the data entry property on this form throws an error:

Run Time error '3021'
no current record

the other forms are ok with setting the property though!

1st Bird thats fine now i just closed the db and opened it again and it works...i had Date() in the default value property thats why i didnt know what was wrong thanx anyway!

I am not sure I should help a birds killer, but well...
You probably have some VB logic in the OnCurrent event of your form (or somewhere else) to fill your textboxes.
You have to skip it if the current record is new:
me.NewRecord = true then
