Hi, i'm unsure whats happening here, but it seems that when I have a label on a form and mouse over it it 'flashes' This is an issue for me, since I am building a Risk Matrix, where each square of the matrix is a label that has its color changed depending on selected options.

Since I have a 5x5 matrix of labels, when the users mouse goes over they it looks really bad. Is there any way to stop this.
I have found that using a locked text field does not have this issue, so in some cases I have done that, but I thought someone here might have a solution.

I remember seeing that problem before....

It had a strange solution as it was a bug, but it escapes me. If you go to usenet, (use Google Groups) and browse the access boards there, you may be able to find the answer.

If the label of the background is set to transparent, set it to the same colour as whatever is behind (if possible!). I've had problems with transparent label backgrounds in forms before.

i think its floating labels (ie not linked to a textbox etc) on tab controls that exhibit this behaviour - irritating but harmless - i don't think there is a fix though

I'm assuming you're running v2003, since this is a known bug! The good news is that this is reportedly fixed with SP3. The bad news is, of course, that SP3 is buggier than a cook out on the lake on a hot August night! Here's an explanation with a work around from Allen Browne:

If you elect to install SP3, here's a link from the same "Wonder from Down Under" with the hotfix for most of the bugs introduced by SP3!

Ha, i think i'll go with the fix rather than introduce a service pack that will create more hassles.. cheers

That would be my choice, Matt! As I understand it, the hotfix for SP3 still hasn't resolved all the known issues as yet. I emphasize the known issues because while a number of commonly recognized ones have been documented, I keep seeing new strange/odd/curious things, every few weeks, that keep popping up when v2003/SP3 is involved.
