Hi All,

I am looking for some advice/help creating a new database for our business. I have some knowledge of Access but will need someone to guide me through this project. I was going to outsource this project but at £4000 it was a big ask so I am attempting it myself.

The basics of the project is to have a database that purchased leads are imported to. The sales team will log in and be able to request new leads as and when needed (ie clicking a button to request a lead will bring up the next new record but not a record another agent is working on). The agent will call the lead and update the record with the status of the lead (sale, dead line, answer phone, not interested) and depending on the status the lead will either be put back in the pool of leads to call or be removed. I would also like a call button so that we can make use of the TAPI interface with our telephone system and the ability to run reports such as number of leads assigned to an agent and number of dead lines etc.

Like I said I am willing to do all the programing but need someone willing to advise on what I should be doing and helping when I get stuck.

If anyone is willing to help or can offer any advice please let me know.

Thanks

Hi

why not just use Act! ?

It is a lead sales based program capable of everything to do with leads and sales teams.

Not that Access won't do the job as it would quite successfully but it's all down to the design and available time. You would certainly get advice here but you might struggle with a complete project guidance as everyone here are busy people who offer help to be generous.

Try attempting something and then get the advice on the particular area and continue on that route.

Alternatively, you could try and manipulate a sample contacts database to give you a kickstart and point to move from :)

I have never used ACT so I dont know it's capabilities and we need an option that is cheap/free (hence be building a database).

I will take your advice and start with a contact database and then see how I get on from there.

Thanks

Cheap/Free??? Do you work for nothing. Nothing is ever free, you earn a salary I presume so all the development time is converted into a expense. All you need to do is calculate how long it is going to take you to come up with a beta version times this by you current salary, then double it. This will cover future modifications, installations, training, documentation, technical support, firefighting, disaster recovery, and other essential issues. As mentioned something like ACT is a worthwhile solution. Do you use Sage at work as this is fully integrated and can read/write to Sage. Well it did when I used it many years ago.
