Limit ability to change a check box in a form

I have a form that has a check box for if Data Entry has been completed. I want only certain people to be able to change this box. Is this possible through a password or restricting who can see the button or something along these lines. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If every user has their own copy of the database, it should be possible for you to give the users slightly different versions of the form. For the users that don't need to see that field, you don't build it into the form they are given a copy of. For the ones who need the access to the checkboxes, give them a form with the extra boxes. It would mean that you would have to keep track of which forms need to go to which user, but it should work easily.

Thanks for the suggestion. I think I did something similar. I made 2 front ends and locked the field on one and left it able to update on the other.
