Hi, I want to secure my Access (2000) database with Access' built-in user-level securities, but my consultant tells me that the limitation to that is once that's set up, I will be required to use the same workgroup file for every other Access dB that I secure?

Is that true? I need user-level securities on this dB because different users will have different access rights. Can't I use different usergroup files per Access in the same computer/server?

That is NOT true. You just need to create a shortcut to open the correct database with the correct workgroup file.

Ahh, so as long as I don't use the default System.mdw, I can create my own mdw usergroup file and link it w/ a shortcut?

That is good to know. Thanks!

The workgroup file is created by Access when you implement Access security and it usually gives you the option to create a shortcut too, but the other program becomes helpful if any paths change later and you have to recreate it.
