Hi, this is my first post in this forum and I am new to Access. I have a grasp of most of the basics though.

I am designing a telephone enquires database based on this template from Microsoft.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/templates/TC010178391033.aspx?CategoryID=CT101426031033

I am creating it from scratch so that I know how it all works but the one thing I cannot do is get the call details section to work.

As I understand it the calls list is a subform (displayed as a datasheet) and the call details is another subform (displayed like a text box). Each record selected in the calls list brings up the relevant calls details field for that record (data can also be entered here).

I have spent many hours trying to find the solution by copying this template but I am missing something critical.

I am using Access 2003 at home with a view to convert it for use at work with Access 2002.

If someone can offer some assistance I would be very pleased.

in the template move the data sheet subform you will see a text box here, do you have this in your example

Thanks kerrance76! you have found that critical thing I was missing:)

I have kind of sussed out all those confusing 'source object', 'linked child fields' and 'link master fields' so my database is now working:) :)

The next thing I will do is document what I have learned and post my findings. There is nothing in the world more frustrating than working realy hard on something and then completely forgetting how you did it 3 days later!

Once again thanks!
