linking from excel to access

Heres the problem.

I have a person that is updating all the information in Excel on a different computer. I need that information updated into the Access I am working on. I am trying to link from her folder on the network that has the updated information into access. I am able to link them up but my problem is I am not getting their information updated into Access. It is just updating on the linked read only excel version. I do not know what I am doing wrong. I also want to be able to link a query and a report to this information. Any help would be appreciated. Once an Excel file is linked (not imported) correctly then any subsequent updates in that Excel file, once saved, should be found and utilised by the Database. You can certainly include the Excel 'table' in any subsequent Query, Form, or Report that you wish to design.
