Question Linking Jpeg Images to access: Selecting 2 from multiple images stored on network (2 Viewers)

So as I have said before; this is a special for Stacey who needs to load the images and be able to display them, all 1 million of them, in batches of around a 1000 per directory.
---------------------

As I have said before; because of the 1,000,000 images involved and the fact that the images will be consistent, this one is a special for Stacey. I can not, at this stage, comply with the wishes of all who may want this or may want that or may prefer it done their way.

So if I don’t restrict myself to the special needs of Stacey the job simply won’t get done.

An AWF VIPs Job is never done

Stacey,

You could append Front (F) and Back (B) to your InventoryID as the file reference and it does not matter what order they are scanned. You have a choice of mucking around with identifying images to Inventory records or referentially i.e. your images reflects your InventoryID.

Stacey,

I just just been with an artist with a whole lot of images that have been generated by the camera. These items related to a large body of art works and are in a series. We could not tell which one related to the list of works of art so these images were useless.

It would seem to me that the whole point of the exercise is to identify the cards through an inventory. The inventory should not be the only reference point the images should reflect the Inventory record no matter if you are dealling with art, products or cards.

See it is painful to rename each image but conversely it is just as difficult to get your Inventory to reflect what the camera is doing. You should not let the tool to totally dictate the process of cataloging the cards.

G’day Stacey.

Version 9 is attached.

Rather than just words, why don’t you produce something substantial?

Good evening Chris,

Version 9 looks great. I have a couple of questions though... what is the difference between Flip images in directory and Flip images in inventory?

is there also a way to rotate the pictures, i.e. a button to click to turn the images 90 degrees and two clicks to turn 180 degrees (sometimes they are scanned upside down...)

Thanks :)

Stacey

G’day Stacey.

Flip images in directory will swap the display position of all images in that directory.
Flip images in Inventory will only swap the two images associated with that Inventory number.

If you flip an entire directory and flip one inventory then that Inventory pair will be as normal because of the double flip.

Rotating the pictures can be done but you hadn’t asked for it.

So the question is; do you have Windows Picture and Fax Viewer on your machine? I can replace the ‘Zoom’ Form with a hyperlink to that program if you prefer.

Yes I have that installed on my computer.

Sorry about not asking for it, it was something that had not occurred to me until I saw the last version.

Thanks :)

Stacey

Version 10 attached.

Chris.

Good evening!

Looks great! Had to bring my mom into the office to show her this version and it blew her mind.

With the rotating of the cards is there any way where an entire directory can be flipped with one click similar to the one click to switch the images (please??).

Heading to bed shortly. Thanks again!

Stacey

Stacey.

The proper way to rotate an entire directory is to implement quality control. If an entire directory is scanned in incorrectly then delete the directory and scan them in again.

To save time it’s probably a good idea to scan in one or two and check if it is the correct orientation, then do the remainder.

Regards,
Chris.

Going to fire up the scanner to do a test scan to see if they will even scan in that way...

Stacey

I would think a $5000 scanner would have a facility for that… :D

Well I tried a small stack of cards and it worked okay, it slows down the scanning process as the cards do not touch the "feeder wheel" that helps feed the cards through. Tomorrow night I will scan in a whole box both ways and time it to see how much more time it takes..

If I start getting too needy and demanding just say woooaaa Stacey.. slow down a little. I'm just so excited about what you have show me so far that every time I open up a new version I see more and more possibilities.

Thanks :)

Stacey

>>every time I open up a new version I see more and more possibilities.<< That, Stacey, is the current motto of Micro$oft. :D

ChrisO,

With all due respect I'm currently creating artists web sites using an Access database, images and ASP.Net - that is what I call substantial. I don't agree with the approach so I would not waste my time.

Simon

Simon.

We are not creating artists web sites in this thread.

Your failure to answer specific questions in this thread, and another thread, indicates you are just trying to promote your own views on how it should be done.

For that you will need to understand the circumstances required in this thread but you do not appear to have even read the thread nor does it appear you have even looked at the downloads available.

That type of behaviour can be seen as disruptive in a thread and if you choose not to respond further then I would both agree with and welcome your choice.

while I do agree with Simon about naming the images to reflect what they are for, this is not how life go.
when you take a picture (or scan) the name will not reflect the picture taken. renaming the pictures is nice, but can't be done for huge project wih 1,000,000 images.
I only create a folder to reflect what the pictures in it are for, and not trying to rename every single one.

And that, smig, is exactly the point; it’s the million that makes the difference.

ChrisO

The difference is I know how to handle images.

I'm afraid there was nothing in Version 7 that could get me out of bed even for a million.
