Stupid Question????

Hello I am going to apologise in advance about the question I am about to ask. In my defence I would just like to say that I have only just recently returned to the human race. I sorta went down the wrong path in life about 8 years ago and have just found my way back.

Since sorting my life out I have found I have a huge interest in computers. I have done an exam C.L.A.I.T (Computer Literacy And Information Technology) and have found a job as a Business Administrator for a Courier Company.
The boss of the company has decided to take me on after 6 months working for nothing (probationary period I suppose). He was impressed with the basic database i set up for him to keep track of all his jobs.

Anyway the question I want to ask is about Viewing the Attachments that people send into the forums. I have an idea on how to send my own zipped attachment but each time I click on an attachment to view I get the "open " of "save" option, I have done both and I don't get passed that, I see the download part then nothing happens???? I know its something that just happens I am just not clued up about the internet at all. So I was wondering if someone could tell me what I am doing wrong?? Do I have to view them on my Quick Zip??? Is that where they go when I have downloaded them onto my computer??? As you can see by my stupid questions I really do not have a clue so if someone could just point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.

I promise I will never ask such a stupid question again you can count on it. ( Well unless there is something I cannot work out myself like this little problem) I am usually able to sort out the problem myself from books or something except this time I couldn't find any info at all on this subject. Maybe it is such a stupid question everyone assumes that everyone knows about such things????

Please help me as I would like to view some peoples things they send in to give me an idea on how to do such things ya get me/??

Thanx for taking the time to read this post I really appreciate it.
Sorry and thanx.!!!!!!!!!!11:(

Welcome back! When you click on save, the "save as" dialog box should come up. Pay attention to where it's going to put the file (and the file name), or change it to the location of your choice. Then you'll have to unzip the file, and you should be good to go.

Thank you for that. I really appreciate it mate. And thanks for welcoming me back. Not alot of people do you know. Done a few things wrong ya get me??

Any how thanx for the advice. I do have quick zip that I downloaded from the internet however it is not exactly easy to follow I don't think. Do you have any recommendations for a good easy to follow Zip program?? This probably sounds really stupid now but I don't know how to unzip using the program I got. Like I said it's not at all easy to follow. So if you could point me in the right direction to get a zip program I would be most grateful. It will have to be a freebie at the moment it being xmas anall that I is a bit skint. So if you know of any good ones I would like to hear bout them ok. thanx again for the advice I just need the next bit now ya get me???

THANKS:D ;)

Windows XP has it built in; otherwise, I've used Winzip, which is a free download at winzip.com. When you install it, it will add itself to your right click menu, so that when you right click on a zipped file, you can choose the appropriate action pretty easily.
