Locked by user admin?

I am using ADO code to update values in a table from one of my forms but more often than not i get a message that states:
Could not update; currently locked by user 'Admin' on Machine "X". Some of the code updates great so does anyone know what causes the record to be locked?

I got this message all of the time until I created a form front end and table backend (split the database).
