Look Up Problems

I have a query that lists Vendor Name, Item Catagory, Amount Purchased. The Vendors Name is derived from a look up box in the form Invoice. I use the "like [Vendor's Name:]" in criteria to prompt and isolate a particular vendor. When I do this no data is returned and no error occurs. If I just put an "*" in the Vendor's Name prompt all of the records show up.

My question is - does nothing show up because I am trying to isolate info from a look up box? If so is their a way around it?
