ok - i'm gonna try to ask this without confusing everyone -
(hopefully someone will understand what it is i'm asking)

I am trying to make a report that connects offense codes inputed in one form to corresonding offenses in a table

the offense codes are a subform of a larger report
the offenses are connected to the main report by the primary key(case #)

ive found that when i make the report, access gives me the offense numbers corresponding to each case when i do not try to link them to offenses on a third table

but when i try to add the corresponding offenses, i no longer get only offenses within one case; i get every single offense code in my table

i want the output to be something like this:

offense code: 21324
offense: indecent exposure and/or monkies

but i want to be able to print each case seperately

PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP ME!!
(and i have no idea how to read code
if someone gives me a solution by code, please explain it to me because i am a super newbie)

Create report and group by offense code.
So your field "offense code" will have offense code header.
Then manually create on report offense code footer .
Place in footer "Page Break" control from toolbox.

huh?

that didnt get it to work, but maybe i misunderstood what i was soposed to do?

i created the report again with a page break in the footer, but it still gave me all the records instead of just the records that corresponded with the case #

Then do the same manipulation just for the "case#" filed.

that wasnt my problem, but that bit of info does come in handy

my initial problem is that one of my subforms does not correspond to the relationships i set for it
(i knew i would word it really wierd and confuse people)

my main form and other subforms give me the information pertaining to one case, but one subform does not seem to obey the relationships set after i link it to a second form that has lookup information.

i hope someone understands the question now -

and igor; what is the manipulation that you are telling me to do?
i'm not sure i understood your first post

i also tried the report button as well (just to clarify this is two different topics, the relationship one is seperate from this)

DoCmd.OpenReport "YourReportName", acPreview, , "CaseNum = " & Me.CaseNum

i got the error: Method or Data not found

did i do something wrong?

on a happier note, i fixed the relationship problem anyway

but i could still use help on previewing one record (the current one on the form) from a button
