Macro drop down menu activation

This is a ridiculous query but I'm foxed.

I'm running Access 2000 and want to write a macro. However the Macro drop down menu will only allow me to write VBA ie the macro bit is greyed out.

I thought it might be an Add-on feature but apparently not.

Has anyone any ideas?

Why not go to the Main dbase window, click on objets: macros and hit the "new" button.
