Main form no staying maximised when running report

Hi I have developed a training db for the company I am working for. The main screen opens maximised which is fine, I then select a button from this screen to do a search on what training is expired, once I have ran the query a report is generated in the background with this search form over the top, as soon as you close this search box it jumps back to the main screen which has then shrunk, to access the report generated you have to close the main form using the 'x' button as the maximise and minimise buttons are not there, then if you want to use the main form again I have to close the DB and start again. Any help with keeping this main form maximised and with the option of the maximise and minimise buttons would be appreciated.
