Hi,

Being used to Excel, I'm a complete Access novice but I need to prepare a database for asset management information.

Most fields are very simple (eg asset management, PC Make, model etc..) but I'm a bit stuck on the best way of tackling software.

I think the way forward is to create another table with one asset and software - eg.

Asset# Package
1 MS Access
1 MS Project
1 Visio
2 MS Access

But I'm not sure how to capture this information in a form - could anybody please offer any ideas?

Many thanks,
DA

Normally I would put the software in a software table. This allows you to pick from that table. Then you would have a table that basically points to a piece of software, and to a piece of hardware. It will have many rows per piece of hardware. So given

Hardware
PC1 PC in accounting
PC2 PC in HR

Software
1 MS Office
2 HR System
3 Email

H/S CrossRef
PC1 1 3
PC2 1 2 3

Would show PC1 has MS Office and Email
