hi
how can i convert a mde file to mdb file?
or
find password vba in mde file?

There is no free tool to convert mde back to mdb.

However, everythingaccess.com offers a service to help you do this, after you've proved that you do in fact own this database.

What kind of password are we talking about? A database password or a User-level security password?

You can't view the code of an MDE file, the MDE is compiled, the code is no longer viewable or changeable.

thanks
i'm need the crack (MDE Source Code Protector v1.25) or (MDE Unlocker v3.20 for Microsoft Access)

please help me find password mde file or unlock

I've told you; there is no free tool to do this; if this is so important to you, contact folks at everythingaccess.com and they'll help you out for a fee.

Piracy isn't accepted here.

Again, this is a free service ... go to your boss and request funding to go through a professional service for this. If your boss feels the need that the database is worth it, he will find funding to resolve the issue.

If you did this on accident on your own, man ... sorry, suck it up and spill it to the boss.

hi,

In an attempt to test how secure my database was, I pw protected my code and converted a db to .mde

I found a program that converted it back to .mdb and more surprisingly, most of the code was made available!

I read ( I think it was Conrad site ) that when the db is compiled, a copy of the code gets stored in a dump file. There is something to delete this but apparently it is needed. I don't know how true this is though.

Nonetheless, you can get it.

Btw, I will NOT be saying what the program was nor condone piracy or cracking. The db was mine and it was for test purposes only.

Nigel,

Everything what you said match up well with what folks at EverythingAccess.com says; they also sell MDE Code Protector that delete this dump file (which they call compiler junk).

Furthermore, to be explicit-

MDE may do away with source codes, but it doesn't hide strings & variable names; they still can be read in a text editor. To protect those, you need to encrypt it also, but the Access's encryption is totally useless; analogous to putting the door key under the front door's mat. You just need to know where to look for the key to de-encrypt and you're back to the exposed variables/string names.

Decompiling MDE, OTOH, would be quite a challenge (but not impossible as you obviously have done it, and so has the folks @ EverythingAccess.COM, but would require proficiency well beyond an average office monkey, and if the data is *that* sensitive, it wouldn't even be in Access to begin with.

So the moral of the story, I suppose, is that MDE is *great* for protecting the IP of your database, but not so much for data itself and you will have to take steps to secure those if necessary.

I have been looking at the Protection of an MDE and thus stumbled on this old thread.

I see that everythingaccess has a MDE protector.

Are there any other companies offering such a service?

In order to do my research and learn about MDE security what companies offer the decomplie services?

Have you tried the simple solutions?
If you deleted the original database that created the MDE, restore the original from backup.

If you changed the file extension from .mdb to .mde, change it back.

Was this with reference to what I wrote?

Maybe I should start a new thread. I just thought this thread would be ok.

I presumed the nature of your inquiry was to recover a lost database where all you had was the .mde remaining. There are only two reasonable causes to make such a request.
1. You honestly lost the original file and need help recovering it.
2. You are attempting to crack / pirate / steal /[insert other dishonest behavior here ]

If the case is #1, I wish you the best of fortunes in this matter.

Sorry I am after the exact opposite. I want to do as much possible to an MDE to make it NOT recoverable.
