GMA,

OK...I will do my best to explain....

This is a projects db.

tblProjects: anProjID, ProjNum, ProjDesc, ProjType, etc....

As time goes on there may be many updates to this project...."Notes" that is by the PM. There is a MEMO field for this...however, that field is limited....not to mention that over time...difficult for the user to review.....

In the design conception, it would be hard to determine how many NOTES may be made over the course of the project...it could be a few as 4 or as many as 10 or even more.

My thoughts on this were: Once the user typed in Update "1" (or whatever update it may be, made their notes, onExit of the Memo Field then a txtField ("Update1" (respectively) could be added to tblProjects...the notes for Update "1" would then be extracted from mmoUpdate exported to txtUpdate1, whereby leaving mmoUpdate blank and ready for the next Update...Update "2" (using DMax to set the UpdateNum Value).... however...I think this method leaves a delima....txt boxes can only hold 250 char's. not to mention...the amount of txt fields the table might have.

So .... I'm asking for any input/suggestions others may have.

Thanks.

How's this quick example?

It's Access 97 and does use a tiny bit of DAO.

If you use 2000 or above then you will, most likely, have to set your references to DAO from ADO to use it.

As Always.....

Brilliant....just Brilliant

Thanks

Of course, more could be added to it like date of comment, person commenting, Comment Summary, etc

Depends on what you need.

Glad it helped...
