Hi
I am at my wits end with this one!!!
I have two copies of identically structured databases (Access 2003).
I now wish to combine them....however they each have the following table structure;

Table1 linked otm to Table2 linked otm to Table3 and Table4 and Table5

Each table uses an Autonumber Indexed Key field to link them.

When I have tried (with copy databases!!!) I lose all the links below Table1.

Is there an easy way to accomplish this without manually logging the numbers??

Yours hopefully

Al

Your post is not clear.
What exactly does this mean
When I have tried (with copy databases!!!) I lose all the links below Table1.

Why are you copying the database?

Show us some data and an example of the issue you are having, so we can understand.

Perhaps you should describe what you are trying to do in 3-4 lines in plain English.

Hi jdraw
Thanks for the response.
I use copies of the databases to try so that if the links disappear I still have my data safely secured away.
Anyhow, I have managed to achieve it - I found another web post with instructions (which don't exactly work) that I was able to use to assist me.
In essence you have to change the indexed Autonumber field to Number, Update the values to start from the next record that you wish to append the table to (ensuring that you have cascading links so that the new numbers cascade down to the child tables), and then simply append the records from each table into the second database.
:)
