Hey,

does anybody know how i can change the location/position of a vbYesNo message box? I have looked at API code for messageboxA but all you can do with that (from what i've read) is change the buttons, change text alignment and other properties like that....

I want the message box when it pops up to be in the bottom right hand portion of the form instead of in the middle of the window. Is this even possible??

It's a request of a client of mine and yes i already told him that i can do a textbox (with buttons) that acts like a message box, but he doesn't want that.... lol

does anybody have a clue???

audrey :)

I know this isn't going to help you, but what difference does it make if the Message box is created by you or Access? I would make your own message box and tell your client that you figured out how to move the Access created Message box. Will he/she really know the difference? And I think it is a dumb request on their part.... What difference does it make if it does the job and looks cool? ARGHHH....

Just a rant and I feel better now... I suggest trying to pull the wool over your clients eyes...

Good luck!

Jack, lol, i already tried that one, lol, and got caught. This guy's a real pain-in-the-arse and did not like my hand crafted message box (which you could not tell the difference unless you looked at the code) but my boss thought it was awesome. I took a screen shot of a vb message box then put cmd buttons on top of the "pic" buttons and set them visible.false until the call cmdbutton was clicked... it was totally cool, but he said that he wasn't on a native network (some used 2000, some XP, some 98) so their message boxes wouldn't look the same and he said he didn't want a text box... so as of this moment i'm screwed, lol, i would love to tell him what he wants is impossible to code into access.... if you can tell me that you think it's impossible without having to pay a HARD coder $10,000 for a darn message box, i'll go with your word, lol

Laughing at your statement that he is a pain-in-the-arse because that is just what he is! If he is so bloody clever and knows that you used a small form to do the same thing as Access does then let him solve the problem! He is obviously a GENIUS and probably the winner of the Nobel prize for Access programming so tell him that you cannot possibly compete with him and you will leave the solution of this problem to him... ARGHHHH!!!!!!

And since when did message boxes created in Access look different running on an XP machine or WinME? Or did I miss something significant? Hmmm. Are you using a VB frontend and and Access backend? If that is the case then I did miss something of import and I am in deep trouble as I don't know do-do about VB.

We have just exhausted my abilities to go any further with this. I am sorry that I don't have an answer for you as I really would like to help you put this fellow in his place, but I can't. I do wish you good luck and there is nothing wrong with using the insanity plea.... He drove you to it....

Jack

LOL!!!!!

Jack, you couldn't have said it better. And no, there's no VB or SQL backend... just plain ol' access. I belive i'm going to have to conceed to the Nobel prize winner.... i cannot compete, lol.

< audrey reutrns the database to the PITA and bows out quietly, then takes a short trip to the local Access Assylum>

Your sense of humour is fully intact so all is well! Conceed to the twit and tell him never to darken your doorway again...
