Hi,

I am seeking a little help with a query.

I have a master table that holds all of my data. The table details what qualifications someone is holding.

I would like a query that would enable me to produce a list of people who DO NOT hold a qualification.

Is there anyone out there who may be able to help me is writing such a query or indeed point me in the right direction?

Thank you

Arran

Several readers could help you, if they had sufficient information.
Can you post a jpg of your tables and relationships? Tell us more about your database, your tables, and what exactly you want from your query.

Sounds like a simple outer join to me :)

Thank you for your replies.

My DB is simply one table and many queries. Access is used as a means of querying data that is exported for a much larger system.

I am interested in one column. “Employee Qualification”

I would like to be able to quary this one column to return all records that do not hold “Qualification X”

Your help is much appreciated.

Thank you

Arran

I'm a little confused. How do I use this? I can't seem to get it to do anything?

Thank you

If you use Access Query Design you can add tables and fields to a query and then specify criteria for any field you include in your query to select which records are displayed.

Therefore, if you select the field that holds the qualification data (along with whichever other data you want to see) and then in the Criteria: row for the qualification field enter the text <>"Qualification X" (or whatever qualification you are looking for.

Then if you click on the datasheet view you will see the results of your query.

You can also add sort orders and grouping options from here.

Hope this helps

Dave

I think you need to be a bit more specific

I have been trying every permitation that i can think of, but cant seem to get this to work?

What have you tried and what can't you get to work. - The Criteria (post #5 / #7) will do what you said you wanted to achieve in your original post (unless I am not understanding) i.e. You have a simple table and you want to extract all records for people that do not hold a specific qualification (Qualification X). If it is not that simple then you need to give us a bit more information.

Cotty,

My appologies, I posted that message at the same time as yourself and your post has solved my issue.

Thank you

rgds,

I think you need to be a bit more specific
